NGC 3149 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Chameleon on southern sky . It is estimated to be 81 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on February 24, 1835 by the astronomer John Herschel .
