NGC 3157 = IC 2555 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Antila in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 117 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter.

The type II supernova candidate ASASSN -15jp was observed here.

The object was discovered by John Herschel on January 28, 1835 . The galaxy was rediscovered on May 1, 1900 by DeLisle Stewart and added to the Index Catalog .
