IC 2556 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SAB (rs) d in the constellation Antila in the southern sky , which is an estimated 102 million light years away from the Milky Way . The galaxies IC 2552 , IC 2558 , IC 2559 lie in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on May 1, 1900 .
