IC 2557 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Little Leo in the northern sky . It is an estimated 290 million light years from the Milky Way and about 25,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxies NGC 3151 , NGC 3159 , NGC 3161 , NGC 3163 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on May 16, 1903 .
