IC 2572 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sa / R in the constellation Little Leo in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 161 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 3232 , NGC 3234 , NGC 3245 , IC 2565 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on May 7, 1896 by Stéphane Javelle .
