NGC 3271 = IC 2585 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Air Pump in the southern sky . It is an estimated 160 million light-years from the Milky Way , about 160,000 ly in diameter, and the brightest member of the Antlia galaxy cluster .
The galaxies NGC 3267 , NGC 3268 , NGC 3269 , NGC 3273 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on May 1, 1834 by John Herschel .
