IC 2574 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SAB (s) m in the constellation Great Bear . It is an estimated 7 million light years from the Milky Way , about 45,000 ly in diameter, and belongs to the M81 galaxy group .
The object was discovered on April 17, 1898 by the American astronomer Edwin Foster Coddington .
