NGC 5801 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Libra on the ecliptic . It is around 359 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 90,000 light years . Together with NGC 5802 and NGC 5803, the object forms an interactive trio.
The galaxy was discovered on June 10, 1885 by Francis Leavenworth.
