NGC 5817 is a 14.2 mag bright lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Libra on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 320 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter.
The property was discovered by Ormond Stone in 1886 .
