NGC 5805 is a 15.0 mag compact galaxy of the Hubble-type C in the constellation Bear Keeper .
It was discovered on April 3, 1854 by RJ Mitchell , an assistant to William Parsons .
Modern information that equates this galaxy with PGC 53381 has turned out to be incorrect on the basis of the sketches of the starry sky made by Mitchell.
