NGC 5797 is a 12.8 mag bright lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0-a in the constellation Bear Guardian in the northern sky and 184 million light years from the Milky Way .
It was discovered on May 15, 1787 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who called it “Two. The preceding vS, vS. The following eF, eS ”. The second galaxy named is NGC 5804 .
