NGC 5775 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc and is located in the constellation Virgo in the northern sky . It belongs to the Virgo Galaxy Cluster and is around 76 million light years away from the Milky Way . The galaxies NGC 5774 and IC 1070 are in optical proximity .
The object was discovered by William Herschel on September 20, 1786 .
