NGC 5754 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SB (rs) b in the constellation Bear Keeper in the northern sky . It is around 208 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 75,000 light years . Through the interactive relationship with her smaller companion NGC 5752 , her spiral arms were pulled apart. Together with NGC 5753 and NGC 5755 , it forms the optical quartet Arp 297 . Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This pair of galaxies belongs to the class of galaxies with long filaments .
The galaxy NGC 5754 was discovered on May 16, 1787 by the German-British astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel .
