NGC 5742 is a 13.5 mag bright lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB (r) 0 in the constellation Libra on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 177 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 ly in diameter.
The object was discovered by Francis Leavenworth on June 12, 1885 .
