NGC 5725 is a 13.7 mag bright bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBcd in the constellation Virgo in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 72 million light years from the Milky Way and about 25,000 light years in diameter. Together with another 30 galaxies, it is a member of the NGC 5746 group ( LGG 386 ).

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5690 , NGC 5738 , NGC 5740 , NGC 5746 .

The object was discovered on April 27, 1862 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
