NGC 5790 is a 14.0 mag bright lenticular radio galaxy of the Hubble type S0-a in the constellation Bear Guardian in the northern sky , it is an estimated 494 million light years away from the Milky Way .
It was discovered on May 16, 1884 by Édouard Stephan .
