NGC 5809 is a 13.6 likes bright lenticular galaxy with pronounced emission lines from the Hubble type S0-a in the constellation Libra at the northern sky , an estimated 125 million light-years from the Milky Way 's center.

The object was discovered on June 5, 1836 by John Herschel with an 18-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "vF, S, E, glbM".
