NGC 5778 = NGC 5825 is a 14.3 likes bright elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E3 in the constellation Bootes the northern sky . It is estimated to be 746 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 265,000 ly. a. the galaxies IC 1061 , IC 1062 , IC 1075 , IC 1076 .

The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on June 20, 1886 . Swift drew another galaxy with the same date and description, but slightly different position. Since there are no other galaxies in this area, it is now assumed that NGC 5778 and the second galaxy, listed under NGC 5825 in the catalog, are identical.
