NGC 5782 is a 13.7 likes bright lenticular galaxy of Hubble type S0 in the constellation Bootes and about 433 million light-years from the Milky Way center.
It was discovered on April 19, 1887 by Lewis A. Swift , who described it as "eF, vS, E, * nr sf".
Swift's position indicates an empty patch of sky; the closest galaxy to this position is CGCG 076-094 on right ascension : 14: 54: 58.4; Declination : +11: 41: 56. However, based on the description, most modern astronomers assume that Swift observed the galaxy described here.
