Naked is after scream! the second live album of the band Subway to Sally . It was released on November 17, 2006 on the Nuclear Blast label on both CD and DVD. These are recordings of two concerts of the "Naked" acoustic tour, recorded on April 30th and May 5th, 2006 in the Passionskirche in Berlin . For the release of the DVD there were exclusive world premieres in several cinemas on November 6, 2006. The band was present in Berlin and gave autographs.

style

Playing an acoustic variant is a complete innovation in the band's musical range. The set consists of six striking, large black, baroque wooden chairs. Such a chair also adorns the cover of the album. The chairs are covered with ivy. The band itself wears black stage clothes. The "nude" tour was largely held in churches or similar buildings in order to give the respective concerts a certain atmospheric aftertaste.

The fact that the recorded performance took place in a church also provided the appropriate background for a song announcement by Bodenski . To Sanctus he asked the audience: “So, now we want to take out the songbooks and turn to page [...]. [...] The books were on the front at the entrance - have you ever been to a church? ” And thereby alluded to the disenchantment with religion of the“ black ”youth who had gathered in the Berlin Passion Church.

history

The band stuck to the unwritten guidelines of the Unplugged concerts on MTV when performing on the "Naked" tour , namely first that the instruments should not be amplified or distorted by electronics and second that the musicians remain seated while playing, which is especially true for singers Eric Fish was obviously having a hard time - he had repeatedly not been able to stay on the chair during rehearsals for the tour and therefore had two wooden balls mounted on the armrests of his chair, to which he - seen a few times on the DVD - visibly clung to. The only exception to the seating rule was guitarist Simon, who jumped up and danced across the stage at “The Bride & the Groom”.

On this tour, Simon used the so-called “book-book” as an “instrument” for the first time. This is a gift from an unnamed fan who had taken the trouble to write down all of Subway to Sally's song lyrics. The “book-book” was also used during “The Bride and the Groom”, with Simon singing the text from the book.

The guest musician on the album and tour was cellist B. Deutung from the Inchtabokatables , who have been friends with Subway to Sally for many years.

According to singer Eric Fish , the DVD, not the CD, is the main component of the latest edition. Thirteen titles on the DVD would no longer have fit on the CD, so that the DVD with 28 titles had priority over the CD with only 15 songs. The label Nuclear Blast released a limited version of the album (1,000 copies) in a massive wooden box. In addition to the album, it also contained a tour diary and a piece of artificial ivy, which is part of the look of the tour.

A special feature of the recorded concert was the fact that, with the exception of Too Late and Syrah, almost all songs were played by Bannkreis .

The nude tour was continued in April 2010 due to its great success with the "Naked II" concert series - this is in contrast to earlier statements by the band members that the nude tour was unique and would be the only acoustic tour of Subway to for a long time Sally stay.
