The Lemberg nature reserve is located in the north of the North Palatinate Bergland in the Bad Kreuznach district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The area around the Lemberg is characterized by the mining of mercury ores in the past centuries. In addition to the numerous traces that can be found again and again, the Schmittenstollen (outside the nature reserve) has been made accessible to visitors.

Below the mountain, the Nahe was dammed into a small reservoir, which lies in the adjacent NSG Nahe valley from Boos to Niederhausen . Numerous water birds, such as the kingfisher and the bittern , have their hunting and breeding grounds here. The forest in the Lemberg nature reserve is also a refuge for rare plants and has a diverse range of birds and small animals.

Lemberg was designated as a nature reserve on July 17, 1987 by the Koblenz district government . This protection replaced an ordinance issued in June 1942. The protected area has a size of approx. 218 hectares and lies exclusively in the area around Feilbingert ; it has the identifier "NSG-7133-067".

The protection purpose is the preservation of this landscape area as a habitat of rare wild animal species threatened in their existence, as a habitat in their existence of threatened wild plants and plant communities as well as for scientific reasons.
