The Rothsteinsmoor nature reserve is located in the Hamburg district of Langenhorn near Hamburg Airport on the border with Schleswig-Holstein .
The approximately nine hectare nature reserve consists of the remains of a high moor landscape , heathland, deciduous forest and an inland dune .
In the moor there is a large population of the Gagelstrauch , which is on the red list of endangered plant species.
The area received its protection status on October 20, 2009 and is looked after by NABU.

A drainage ditch runs through the nature reserve. It runs from Zeppelinstraße to Ring 3 . It crosses the Wrietreygraben and thus belongs to the Tarpenbek river system .
