Naundorf (Geiseltal)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Naundorf is a modern desert in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt . It was destroyed by lignite mining in the Geiseltal .

Geographical location

Naundorf was in the Geiseltal northeast of Braunsbedra . Neighboring towns were Körbisdorf in the west, Frankleben in the east and Wernsdorf in the southwest. The former local corridor is now in the east of the Geiseltalsee in the immediate vicinity of the hostage outflow from the lake.

history

Naundorf emerged from an estate belonging to the Merseburg Monastery. This was made up of areas from the neighboring towns of Rottmannsdorf (also Rattmarsdorf) and Körbisdorf, with a "dividing miter piece". It is assumed that Naundorf was founded at the beginning of the 12th century. The first attributable documentary mention comes from 1317 under the name '' Nuendorf ''. At that time Naundorf consisted of a manor and 11 farmhouses. At the end of the Middle Ages, the name '' Nauendorf '' and later '' Naundorf '' became more and more popular.

From the descriptions of the feudal dependencies it can be seen that some of Naundorf's courtyards were subservient to Körbisdorf, whereas a Vorwerk was directly subordinate to the Merseburg cathedral chapter. The Franconian new settlers were subject to the Naundorf manor. According to a compilation from the year 1754, Naundorf had 29 houses and 17 handlers, but only half of them were also subject to the Naundorf manor. Four houses were under the Merseburg cathedral chapter, 11 under the Winkel inheritance court (thus to Körbisdorf). The upper court in the village and the upper and lower court in the field were subordinate to the Merseburg Kitchen Office , which had been under the sovereignty of the Electorate of Saxony since 1561 . By the resolutions of the Vienna Congress Naundorf 1815 came to Prussia and was Merseburg in the administrative district of Merseburg of Saxony Province allocated to which it belonged until the 1944th

At the end of the 19th century, Naundorf increasingly merged with the neighboring towns of Benndorf and Körbisdorf. In 1856 a large sugar factory was built between Körbisdorf and Naundorf, which existed until 1926. Since 1918 Naundorf had a connection to the Merseburg – Müchi tram line . On April 1, 1937, Benndorf, Körbisdorf and Naundorf were united to form the municipality of Benndorf / Geiseltal .

As a result of lignite mining in the Geiseltal , Benndorf was resettled in 1953 and dredged a year later. The resettlement of Naundorf followed in 1954, three years later the place was ( devastated ). The Naundorf church was demolished in 1956.
