The tenth season of the American crime series NCIS celebrated its premiere in the US on 25 September 2012 at the transmitter CBS . In Germany, the tenth season started on January 6, 2013 on the German free TV channel Sat.1 . With the broadcast of the 14th episode, Sat.1 interrupted the broadcast of the season on April 14, 2013 and continued it from August 18 to October 20, 2013.

In Switzerland, the tenth season started on January 1, 2013 on the free TV channel 3+ and ended there on October 18, 2013. A broadcast date for the broadcast in Austria is not yet known.

The Gibbs Navy-CIS team is investigating a case with Coast Guard Agent Borin . The crew of a Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk helicopter washes ashore on a life raft . According to the records, the helicopter crashed a few days ago during an exercise after the radar failed. The descriptions of the course of events by the crew members differ in part significantly. The pilot is later washed ashore dead. He suffered a gunshot wound in the head that resulted in death. Two of the three surviving members are quickly on their feet again, question the psychological state of the pilot due to an illness of his son and cite the pilot's suicide as the cause of the crash. An autopsy of the corpse cannot determine whether the gunshot wound was caused by self-inflicted or external influence. A pistol of a type that is also approved as a private weapon by JAG Officer Lieutenant Nora Patel is identified as a murder weapon. Despite the crash, no debris can be found. The most important witness, however, is in a coma for a few days. When he wakes up, he shakes his head and denies that the pilot's suicide was the cause of the crash. The crash was faked to sell the Sea-Hawk helicopter for $ 300,000. The money was transferred to offshore accounts by those involved. The pilot assigned to the service, Lieutenant Commander David Hernandez, has canceled due to an alleged illness and did not want to be involved in this operation.
