history

Half-timbered house in Döhlen

Döhlen was first mentioned in 1350 as "Dalen". From 1445/47 a knight's seat is mentioned in the place , which is documented as the Döhlen manor from 1590 . Since the second half of the 16th century this has been called "Neutaubenheim" after the owner of Taubenheim at the time . Later it was owned by the von Carlowitz , von Werther (also: von Werder), von Haubitz, Koch and Knechtel families . East of the Neutaubenheim manor, the “Neuwerder” group of houses named after him was laid out in 1728 by the owner of the manor at the time, Adolf Friedrich von Werder. The Neudörfchen group of houses in the northern Döhlener Flur was mentioned as early as 1590.

With regard to the manorial rule , Döhlen and the settlements of Neuwerder, Neudörfchen and the Neutaubenheim manor district belonged to the Neutaubenheim manor. Until 1856 they were in the Electoral or Royal Saxon Office of Rochlitz . Ecclesiastically, the places have always been parish to Seelitz. The offices were dissolved during the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Saxony in the 19th century . As a result, Döhlen, Neudörfchen, Neuwerder and the manor district of Neutaubenheim came under the administration of the Rochlitz court office in 1856 and under the newly established Rochlitz administration in 1875 . While Neudörfchen and Neuwerder already belonged to Döhlen before 1875, the politically independent manor district Neutaubenheim was not incorporated into Döhlen until 1922. Between 1893 and 1998 the Waldheim – Rochlitz railway ran through Döhlen. To the west of the village was the station “Döhlen (b Rochlitz / Sachs)”, which during the GDR era also served the goods traffic of the nearby VEB Orsta-Hydraulik Rochlitz plant and the loading of agricultural goods.

Through the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the municipality of Döhlen with Neudörfchen and Neuwerder was incorporated into the Rochlitz district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). On March 1, 1969, it was incorporated into Seelitz. Since 1990 Döhlen, Neudörfchen and Neuwerder belonged as districts of Seelitz to the Saxon district of Rochlitz , which was merged in 1994 in the newly formed district of Mittweida and in 2008 in the district of Central Saxony.
