Jess has taken on quirky hobbies since realizing she still has feelings for Nick, who is still in New Orleans with Reagan. Among other things, she tries to support Schmidt and Cece in their search for a house. This would be the job of Aly's sister Leslie, but she is overwhelmed with it. Actually, she is only allowed to do it because Winston has promised Aly to take care of her while she is in training. Schmidt and Cece no longer want Leslie's help, but Winston doesn't want to tell her that she can't, so he lets her look for a house for him, even though he doesn't need one.

Nick is back from New Orleans and meets Jess in the loft. She's uncomfortable with this, and she's trying to get away as quickly as possible by pretending to be on a date. In the meantime, Cece and Schmidt have found something they would like, but it far exceeds their credit with the bank. Schmidt therefore wants to increase the credit line. For this Schmidt needs the support of Nick, because he needs the bar as a guarantee. Jess also went to the bank because she wanted to support Cece, but then has to hide when Nick shows up. Winston wins, but he can't be really happy about it because he realizes that Furguson was now at home in both places. So he sends him back to Gil.
