ORF radio play awards
As part of the annual Ö1 radio play gala (until 2011: Long Night of Radio Play ), ORF awards several awards in the field of radio play. In addition to the categories of radio play of the year and actor of the year , the radio play award for critics is awarded. In the course of the short radio play competition Track 5 ', the best three submissions as well as the winner of the schule für dichtung award will be awarded.
Radio play of the year
Since 1993, Ö1 listeners have been choosing their “Radio Play of the Year” from the ORF's annual production . The announcement will be made during the Ö1 radio play gala in the large broadcasting hall of the RadioKulturhaus in Vienna. The "radio play of the year" will be repeated on the next radio play date following the Ö1 radio play gala on Ö1 (Saturday, "The Ö1 radio play").

Radio Play Award of Criticism
The "Radio Play Critics Prize" has been awarded since 2008. Critics of the daily newspapers "Salzburger Nachrichten", "Kleine Zeitung", "Der Standard", "Die Presse" and the city newspaper "Falter" choose what they consider to be the "most artistically demanding and appealing" radio play of the ORF from the annual production Year. The publication takes place in the context of the Ö1 radio play gala. The radio play, which was awarded the "Radio Play Prize of Criticism", will be repeated on Ö1 ("Radiokunst-Kunstradio") on the Sunday following the radio play gala.

Short radio play competition Track 5 '
Since 2005, the radio play editorial team of Ö1 has been putting out the short radio play competition Track 5 'every year. We are looking for self-produced pieces with a maximum length of up to five minutes. A jury selects the most interesting submissions from all submitted entries. The top 10 will be presented in the ALTEN SCHMIEDE Vienna and subsequently broadcast in the Ö1 radio play magazine. The best three submissions will be awarded at the Ö1 radio play gala at the ORF RadioKulturhaus. The school for poetry has been awarding a special prize as part of Track 5 'since 2014.
