Location of Oberg in Ilsede
|
Oberg is a district of the municipality of Ilsede in the district of Peine ( Lower Saxony ).
geography
The village lies east of Groß Ilsede , west of Münstedt and on the southern edge of the Gifhorner Trough. Oil has been produced since 1919 . However, oil production was stopped in the 1980s. At the place of a former borehole in the street “Am Bohrturm”, there is now a memorial stone, which was erected to mark the 850th anniversary of the village (2002).
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1152, when Bishop Bernhard I of Hildesheim gave tithing rights to the Bokel monastery near Wilsche . The town's stone tower was destroyed as a result of the Herlingsberg War .
Already in the Middle Ages there was a chapel in the village, for which the Lords of Oberg received patronage . Today's church "John the Baptist" dates from the late Middle Ages. It has had its name since 1989. It has undergone several renovations.
The last of the family, Anna von Oberg, married chief hunter Hermann von Kalm, who also had a farm in Halchter . Kalm built a mansion on the site of the long-destroyed castle. This later came to the House of Uslar-Gleichen and then to Hugo Lessmann, who was also the builder of the Oberger Bismarck Tower. Today it is owned by his descendants , together with the manor . On February 1, 1971, Oberg was merged with the previously independent communities of Adenstedt , Gadenstedt , Groß Lafferde and Münstedt to form the community of Lahstedt . On July 10, 2014, the members of the municipal council decided to merge the municipalities of Lahstedt and Ilsede . The merger of the municipalities was implemented on January 1, 2015.
politics
Jürgen Rissel was mayor from 2006 to 2017. In 2017 Jonas Krüger was elected local mayor.
