Ochsenschenkel is a district of the Vestenbergsgreuth market in the Erlangen-Höchstadt district in Middle Franconia .

geography

The hamlet is located in a forest clearing, in the west the forest area is called Eichholz . The Oberwinterbach , which is a right tributary of the Kleine Weisach , rises nearby .

history

The place name is supposed to be derived from an identical field name, which was named after ox thighs because of its shape. The place belonged to the Brandenburg-Bayreuth monastery office Frauenaurach .

As part of the community edict, Ochsenschenkel was assigned to the Breitenlohe tax district formed in 1808, and then to the newly formed Dutendorf tax district in 1810 . In 1818 the rural community Oberwinterbach was formed, to which the place belonged. In 1838 the reorganization to Kleinweisach took place .

On January 1, 1972, Ochsenschenkel was incorporated into the newly formed community of Weisachgrund as part of the regional reform . This was incorporated into Vestenbergsgreuth on May 1, 1978 .

Since the Reformation the place has been predominantly Protestant and parish to St. Marien (Kleinweisach) . The inhabitants of the Roman Catholic denomination are parish after the exaltation of the cross (Breitenlohe) .

The place is a bit off the district road ERH 19 / NEA 3 , which runs to Oberwinterbach (1.3 km south) or to Gleißenberg (1.7 km north). A community road branches off from ERH 19, which leads to Frickenhöchstadt (1.1 km east).
