Olive Kitteridge is an American miniseries based on the novel of the same name by Elizabeth Strout and produced for HBO television . The series tells the life of math teacher Olive Kitteridge, portrayed by Frances McDormand . Richard Jenkins , Zoe Kazan and Bill Murray can be seen in other important roles . The four episodes are each based on an important narrative thread of the novel. The executive director was Lisa Cholodenko .
The series has won numerous critic awards and accolades, including she could in 2015 a total of eight Emmys win.

Olive Kitteridge is a math teacher and lives in the (fictional) coastal town of Crosby, Maine . She is a misanthropic , strict, but at the same time kind-hearted person. She lives with her husband, the pharmacist Henry, and their son Christopher. For 25 years, Olive has struggled with depression , grief, jealousy, and family problems.

The first season of the series received a Metascore of 89/100 on Metacritic based on 20 reviews.
Henning Harder from Serienjunkies.de especially praises the acting performance of the actors, especially that of Frances McDormand : “With the title role in Olive Kitteridge, Frances McDormand surpassed himself. The four-part miniseries tells the story of a bitter woman who is confronted with her loneliness. A gripping drama between tragedy and comedy. [...] She distinguishes her Olive Kitteridge with a hardness that does not tolerate any deviation, but at the same time conveys at all times that there is a deeply vulnerable character behind it. This trait becomes more and more clear in the course of history and digs its way into the light of day. ”In conclusion, he writes:“ With 'Olive Kitteridge', the US broadcaster HBO is once again showing what it does best: telling good drama. And she clearly puts one character in the spotlight: Olive Kitteridge, played by Frances McDormand with terrifying honesty.
