The men's 100-meter freestyle swimming competition at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul was held on September 22nd. Matthew Biondi from the United States won the gold medal with a new Olympic record. His compatriot Christopher Jacobs won silver and Stéphan Caron from France won bronze.
