Company history

In 1985 Harald Rapp (born August 17, 1952 in Mengen) set up his own business in Ennetach with the organ building workshop Harald Rapp . Before that, he was in charge of Orgelbau Späth GmbH , which his father Franz Rapp founded after the death of Karl Späth in 1971 together with eight employees of the Gebr. Späth Orgelbau company.

Harald Rapp, whose grandfather had already worked at Späth, first completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker. From 1973 to 1975 an apprenticeship as an organ builder followed by the organ building company Roman Ilisch in Berlin and an internship at the Karl Schuke Berlin organ building workshop . In order to deepen his knowledge, he followed a three-year stay at Steiner-Reck Inc. in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. In 1980 he attended the master's school in Ludwigsburg and then took over his father's master position at Orgelbau Späth GmbH .

In the organ building workshop Harald Rapp he restores and builds numerous large and small organs, mostly as sole master. He also builds high-quality organ console for virtual pipe organs. To this end, Rapp founded the R&M The Virtual Pipe Organ brand together with Helmut Maier, professor of computer science and media technology at Reutlingen University .

His instruments can be found in Germany and abroad, including France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Hungary and the USA.
