Pablo Javier Bengoechea Dutra (born February 27, 1965 in Rivera , Uruguay ) is a former Uruguayan football player and current coach.
Player career
society
The attacking midfielder began his career in 1985 with the Wanderers from Montevideo in the Primera División . In 1987, the year in which the Wanderers won the Torneo Competencia , Bengoechea moved from the Wanderers to Sevilla FC and played there in the top Spanish league until the 1991/92 season. The Uruguayan has 135 games and 26 goals as a record for the Spaniards. In the Apertura 1992 he then completed 16 matches in the Argentine Primera División for Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata and scored five goals. From 1993 he was finally under contract with Peñarol in Montevideo until the end of his career in 2003 . During his club membership, the Aurinegros won the Uruguayan championship title seven times (1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2003). He also reached the final of the Copa Conmebol with his club in 1993 and 1994 . At the Copa Parmalat , he won the title with Peñarol in these two years. In 1997 he was the most successful shooter in the Uruguayan Primera División with ten goals .
Bengoechea completed a total of 545 games (166 goals) for the Aurinegros during his career, making him the player with the most appearances in the history of Peñarol after Néstor Goncalves (574 games). Bengoechea is also the player of Peñarols who, with 35 Clásicos contested in the championship, has the most appearances in this regard in the club's history. National team
From February 2, 1986 to October 12, 1997 El Profesor completed 43 international matches (six goals) for the Uruguayan national soccer team . With her he also took part in the World Cup in Italy in 1990 and came there to a use in the group game against Belgium , where he contributed the Uruguayan goal after his substitution in the 1: 3 defeat. In 1987 and 1995 he won the Copa America as part of the Uruguayan squad . Coaching career
In March 2014, he succeeded his compatriot Sergio Markarián , whose assistant he was previously, as national coach of Peru. After his involvement with the Peruvian national team ended a few days earlier due to a clause option in the contract that was actually up to the Copa America 2015 , which was linked to the presidential elections of the Peruvian Football Association FPF and drawn by the new President Edwin Oviedo , Bengoechea became the new one on December 23, 2014 Head coach Peñarols presented from 2015. He took office on January 5, 2015.
