Paul Perret
Paul-Jean Perret (born April 10, 1880 in Lausanne , † April 8, 1947 there , entitled to live in Essertines-sur-Yverdon ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).
education and profession
Perret first graduated from the cantonal trade school in Lausanne and then worked as a commercial clerk. He then worked as an employee of numerous Vaudois daily newspapers, in particular as an art critic . From 1909 he was an editor at the Tribune de Lausanne , from 1916 to 1918 he was its editor. He was also secretary of the Swiss Werkbund . In 1946, the humanities faculty at the University of Lausanne awarded him an honorary doctorate .
Political career
In 1921, Perret entered his political activities with two offices: he was elected to the Lausanne municipal council and the Grand Council of the Canton of Vaud. In 1924 he was elected to the city council of Lausanne, where he was responsible for the school system. From 1930 to 1931 he was mayor of Lausanne . He was elected to the National Council on December 1, 1931 , but resigned after three weeks on December 22, 1931, as he was also elected to the State Council of the Canton of Vaud . He had to give up his mandate in the National Council due to the separation of powers . He held the office of State Councilor until 1942, where he was head of the Education and Church Department.
