The company employs 14 people and produces 7,000 hectoliters annually . The brewery's logo is decorated with a Schwalm in traditional costume with a hat and a beer mug .

The brewery based in the Treysa district invests around EUR 150,000 annually from its own resources and, according to its own information, supplies 32 restaurants and 33 beverage markets in the vicinity under the Schwalm Bräu brand . The brewery's beverage home service regularly visits 83 locations in the region . The brewery has been run by the Haass family from Treysa for four generations . Eckhard Haaß is the managing partner . A fifth generation member has now joined the company.

history

In 1820 Otto Schreiber founded the brewery in front of the city, on Ascheröder Landweg , which was sold to Vitus Krauss as the Schreibersche Brewery in 1870 . In 1890, Friedrich, who is still named today, and Susanne Haaß bought the brewery, which included a malt house and extensive agriculture .

In 1905 the malt house was closed, the brewery was modernized and the production facilities were relocated from the historic brewery (now residential building ) to a new company building. Supply bottlenecks during the First World War meant that the brewery also had to purchase beer from the Kassel Herkules brewery between 1915 and 1920 . The brewery, run as a partnership , took on the legal form of a GmbH with 24 shareholders in order to improve the financial structure. This also made restaurateurs and entrepreneurs in the region shareholders.

In 1926, Wilhelm Haaß, Friedrich Haaß's second youngest son, joined the company. In 1935, Rudolf Haaß, the youngest son of the family, returned to the Treysa brewery as master brewer . In 1937 the GmbH was converted into a KG , with Wilhelm and Rudolf Haaß as general partners . The outbreak of the Second World War restricted production operations again, so that, among other things, whey beer and Fassbrause were produced. A large cellar of the Haas Brewery was also used as an air raid shelter by the Schwalm School opposite (today: Schwalm High School ) . After the end of the war, raw materials for brewing beer were hardly available. The occupying power only allowed thin beer with 0.8% alcohol .

From 1950 the facility was renewed and production was redesigned. In 1966 Friedrich Karl Haaß - son of Wilhelm Haaß - joined the family business after completing the master brewing school and working in some foreign breweries.

The agricultural stables and the barn were replaced by a vehicle hall. The purchase of a steel tent for larger events and a smaller aluminum tent were the cornerstone of a tent business. In 1986 a warehouse was built to accommodate tent furniture, boxes, barrels and the expanded vehicle fleet .

In 1992 there was a large extension on the east side of the brewery with a new storage cellar , a drinks warehouse with a loading bay and significantly enlarged office space. In addition, investments were made in brewhouse automation , wort cooling and in-house piping . Freestanding stainless steel fermentation and storage tanks were used for the first time in 1996 .

Keg barrels and a new barrel cleaning / filling system replaced the bulbous aluminum barrels in 1997. In 2002, the bottle filling plant and the central refrigeration system were brought up to the state of the art . A general overhaul of the copper brewhouse took place in 2005, with new stainless steel fittings in the brew kettle and lauter tun . In 2008 the naturally cloudy type of beer Vierbräu was introduced. With the installation of the third free-standing fermentation and storage tank in 2010, the old aluminum storage tanks in the vaulted cellars were shut down. In 2012 the Haaßebier beer was presented
