The Puerto Bermúdez district is located in the Oxapampa province in the Pasco region in central Peru . It was founded on June 17, 1958. In 2010 the northern district area was carved out and has since formed the newly established Constitución district . The Puerto Bermúdez district covers an area of 8014.31 km² (according to other sources: 7634 km²). In the 2017 census, 13,634 inhabitants were counted in the district. The administrative center is the city of Puerto Bermúdez with 6,168 inhabitants (as of 2017) , located on the west bank of the Río Pichis at an altitude of 250 m . The road connection from Ciudad Constitución in the north via Puerto Bermúdez to Villa Rica in the south-west runs through the district.
Geographical location
The Puerto Bermúdez district extends over the suburban region on the edge of the Amazon basin in the southeast of the Oxapampa province. The district extends over the catchment area of the Río Pichis , right source river of the Río Pachitea . The Sira Mountains rise to the east . The district is also bounded by ridges in the south and east. In the north, the district extends to the confluence of the Río Apurucayalí in the Río Pichis.
The Puerto Bermúdez district borders in the west with the districts Villa Rica and Palcazú , in the north with the district Constitución, in the east with the district Tahuanía ( province Atalaya ), in the southeast with the district Raimondi (also in the province Atalaya), in the south the district of Río Tambo ( province of Satipo ) and in the southwest to the districts of Pichanaqui and Perené (both in the province of Chanchamayo ).
