Raymond Boy
Raymond Boy (* 1969 ) is a German film director , screenwriter and storyboard artist. His short film A Simple Job won the 1997 Student Oscar .
Life
Raymond Boy began writing and drawing comics and cartoons at a young age. For years, his cartoons appeared weekly in the youth magazine BRAVO . This was followed by series in publications such as TAZ , TIP Berlin and the cinema culture magazines Choices , Engels and Trailer in the Rhine Ruhr region.
After completing a diploma in visual communication at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences , Boy studied film and television directing at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts . The graduation film A Simple Commission with Barbara de Koy and Armin Rohde won numerous prizes at international film festivals in 1997 in Los Angeles and the Student Oscar .
As a storyboard artist , Boy works in advertising as well as in German and international feature film productions for filmmakers such as Robert Redford , Michael Ballhaus , Janusz Kamiński , Caleb Deschanel , Wolfgang Petersen , and Uli Edel .
His best-known productions include The Horse Whisperer , Air Force One , The Book Thief , the Luc Besson- produced television series Transporter: The Series , Out of Nowhere by Fatih Akin , Dani Levi's The Kangaroo Chronicles and the Netflix series The Queen's Gambit .
Raymond Boy lives as a film director, author, comic and storyboarder in Berlin and also gives seminars and workshops at film schools such as the German Film and Television Academy and at the Bauhaus University Weimar .
