Recep Kara (born May 25, 1982 in Ünye ) is a Turkish wrestler from Ordu.

Career

Recep Kara started wrestling as a teenager in 1994 in Samsun . After his first major successes in the national field, he became a member of the renowned Ankara TEDAS sports club . He later moved to the ASKI Spor Ankara sports club . His trainers were or are Ismail Nizamoglu u. Adem Bereket. Recep Kara studied at Konya Selask University, but is now a member of the Turkish armed forces.

The 1.85 m tall athlete works exclusively in free style, but is also one of the best Turkish oil wrestlers. He weighs about 120 kg.

His international career began at the Junior World Championships in 2001 in Tashkent , where he had to make do with a win and a defeat with 10th place in the heavyweight division. At the Junior World Championships in 2002 in Tirana , he was then greatly improved and was in front of Stamatios Giagias from Greece , Petr Raichew from Ukraine and Rareş Daniel Chintojan from Romania Junior World Heavyweight Champion.

In his senior career, he has to contend with very strong competitors in his own country from the start in his weight class. In 2003 he started at the Military World Championships in Istanbul , where he came second behind the American Dominic D. Black. He was also used at the 2003 World Cup in New York , but lost there after defeating Mirko Silian from Switzerland against Alireza Rezaei from Iran and therefore only reached 14th place.

Recep Kara could not qualify for participation in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . He failed in his own country to Aydın Polatçı. In 2005 he was used at the European Championships in Varna , where he was eliminated after his first fight, which he lost against David Otiaschwili from Georgia , and only came in 13th place.

His next start at an international championship was the 2006 World Cup in Guangzhou , where he showed a strong performance and won victories over Ha Van Hieu from Vietnam , Lei Liang from China and others. Hizir Durgayev came from Azerbaijan . In the semifinals, however, he failed at Olympic champion Artur Taymazov from Uzbekistan and in the fight for the bronze medal at the World Championships he suffered a narrow point defeat by Ruslan Basiev from Armenia .

In the years 2006 to 2008 Recep Kara was only used at the military world championships in Hyderabad , where he again took second place. In the final he was defeated by the multiple world champion Kuramagomed Kuramagomedow from Russia on points. Aydın Polatçı started again for Turkey in the heavyweight division at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing .

Recep Kara, who again became Turkish heavyweight champion in 2008, was then used in March 2009 at the European Championships in Vilnius . He defeated there Bartłomiej Bartnicki from Poland a . Soslan Ruslanowitsch Gaglojew from Russia lost in the semifinals against Ali Issajew from Azerbaijan and won the battle for the European Championship bronze medal over Ioannis Arzoumanidis from Greece . At the 2009 World Cup in Herning / Denmark , Recep Kara won over Nabuyoshi Arakida from Japan , but then lost to Fardin Masoumi Valadi from Iran . Since Masoumi reached the final, he was able to continue in the consolation round, but lost to Aleksi Modebadse from Georgia , which he was finally eliminated and took 12th place.
