Əli İsayev
Əli İsayev ( Russian Али Исаевич Исаев , Ali Issajewitsch Issajew ; born December 18, 1983 in Makhachkala , Dagestani ASSR , Soviet Union ) is an Azerbaijani wrestler . In 2009 he was European heavyweight champion in free style in Vilnius (weight class up to 120 kg body weight).
Career
Əli İsayev dates back to Russia belonging to Dagestan . In this region, young wrestlers are repeatedly trained to become world-class athletes. So many that in Russia they usually cannot even be accepted into the national team there. These wrestlers then start for surrounding states that have become independent after the collapse of the Soviet Union . It is the same with Əli İsayev, who has been competing for Azerbaijan since 2007.
He is a member of Neftçi Baku , a student, but makes a living by wrestling. He has been wrestling since 1999, is trained by Rövşən Umudov and starts at a height of 1.92 meters and a weight of 119 kg in the heavyweight class (up to 120 kg body weight). He works exclusively in free style.
In 2005 Əli İsayev finished 3rd in the Russian heavyweight championship behind Kuramagomed Kuramagomedow and Alexander Kowalewski. He also competed for Russia at the “Iwan Yarigin” memorial in January 2007 in Krasnoyarsk and came in second behind Aljaksej Schamarau , Russia.
At the European Championships in Sofia in April 2007 , he made his first appearance for Azerbaijan. He won three fights there, u. a. he also defeated the German Markus Hamann , but lost against the multiple world champion Kuramagomed Kuramagomedow, an Ossetian starting for Russia and in the battle for the bronze medal also against Fatih Çakıroğlu from Turkey . He came in 5th place. At the World Championships this year in Baku he defeated Maksymilian Witek from Poland and Gandsorigiin Ganchujag from Mongolia , but then lost to Olympic champion Artur Taymazov , an Ossetian starting for Uzbekistan , and only achieved 9th place.
In 2008 Əli İsayev won his first international medal at the European Championships in Tampere . After a loss in the semifinals against the Georgian Dawit Modsmanashvili , he won the battle for the bronze medal against Rareş Daniel Chintojan from Romania on points. Modsmanashvili, who also defeated David Musuľbes in the final battle , an Ossetian who had competed for Russia for many years but now for Slovakia and who was also an Olympic champion, was subsequently disqualified for doping. As a result, Musuľbes became European champion and Əli İsayev was awarded the silver medal .
Things went less well for him at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . He lost his first fight there against the Cuban Disney Rodríguez clearly on points (0: 2 rounds and 0: 5 technical points) and was defeated again in his second fight by Artur Taymazov (0: 2 rounds and 3: 6 technical points ).
At the 2009 European Championships in Vilnius, Əli İsayev had the greatest success of his career so far, as he was the new European heavyweight champion with four wins. In the final battle he defeated it Ruslan Basiev from Armenia . At the 2009 World Cup, he was not so successful because he lost after winning two fights against Tervel Dlagnev from the United States and only finished 8th.
In 2010 Əli İsayev failed to win a medal at the international championships. At the European Championships in Baku, he lost a little surprisingly in the first round against Aljaksej Schamarau from Belarus, was eliminated and only came in 14th place. At the World Championships in Moscow he was in better shape, but lost after winning two fights against double Olympic champion Artur Taymazov. In the consolation round, after defeating Aljaksej Schamarau, he got the chance to fight for a bronze medal against Ioannis Arzoumanidis from Greece , but clearly lost this fight with 0: 2 rounds.
