Nixon's cabinet
Richard Nixon went down in history as the only President of the United States to step down from office. On August 9, 1974, he drew the consequences of the Watergate affair . He had previously been elected to this office twice: 1968 against Democratic Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey , 1972 against George McGovern .
During Nixon's tenure, the Department of Post was transformed into the United States Postal Service , an independent agency whose head no longer held a cabinet position. In all other ministries there was a change at the top during these five years.
