history

Rehnsdorf was first mentioned in 1527 as Reinstorff . In 1727 the place was called Rensdorf . The place is probably named after a former village owner; it is derived from a first name with the prefix Rei- .

Until the 19th century, Rehnsdorf was a predominantly Sorbian-speaking village. For his statistics on the Sorbian population in Lusatia, Arnošt Muka determined a total population of 145 in the 1880s, 98 of which were Sorbs and 47 Germans, which corresponded to a Sorbian-speaking proportion of 68%.

After the Congress of Vienna , the entire Lower Lusatia came to the Kingdom of Prussia . When the new district was formed in 1816, Rehnsdorf was part of the Calau district . On June 27, 1950, Rehnsdorf was reclassified to the Spremberg district . On July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the newly formed Spremberg district in the Cottbus district . On January 10, 1973, Rehnsdorf was reclassified to the Cottbus-Land district and incorporated into Jehserig . After the reunification , Rehnsdorf was initially in the Cottbus district and was assigned to the Spree-Neisse district after the district reform in December 1993 . On December 31, 2001, Jehserig was incorporated into the town of Drebkau together with its parts of the community and the previously independent communities of Casel , Domsdorf , Greifenhain , Laubst , Leuthen , Schorbus and Siewisch .
