Reinhardsachsen is a district of Walldürn in the Neckar-Odenwald district in the north of Baden-Württemberg .

Geographical location

Reinhardsachsen is about seven kilometers north of the city center as a scattered settlement in the Kaltenbach valley , immediately south of the border with Bavaria and the Miltenberg district . The place is located in a part of the area, which - without a fixed geographical assignment - is also known as the Madonnenländchen . The Neckartal-Odenwald Nature Park includes parts of the district.

history

The Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes testifies to the presence of the Romans . It runs about 1 km southwest of today's location in an almost dead straight line from northwest to southeast. Remains of the small fort Haselburg , between Reinhardsachsen and Gerolzahn , and former Roman guard posts are hidden in the ground.

The high medieval clearing settlement was first mentioned as "Reinhartisahen" in 1294, when Ruprecht von Dürn sold the Zent to the Archbishop of Mainz. The place belonged to the Bailiwick of the Amorbach Monastery and came to the Principality of Leiningen in 1803 as part of the secularization , then to the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1806 .

From 1935 to 1945 Reinhardsachsen belonged to the community of Glashofen . On July 1, 1971, it was incorporated into Walldürn. There is a local community with Kaltenbrunn .

Former coat of arms

In 1909 the municipality adopted the following coat of arms at the suggestion of the General State Archives: "A gold (yellow) bordered silver (white) miter in red, through which a golden (yellow) crook stuck stuck." The coat of arms expired with the incorporation into Walldürn.

Economy and Infrastructure

economy

In the past, Reinhardsachsen was oriented towards agriculture and forestry, which are now only practiced as a sideline . The milk production is completely set.

Since the 1970s, the place has been dedicated to tourism and since 1987 has been known as a “ resort ”. There are over 100 holiday homes in the “Madonnenländchen” holiday park. A hotel, tennis courts and a riding stables complete the offer.

traffic

As part of the German Limes hiking trail , the Limes hiking trail of the Swabian Alb Association crosses the district. From Miltenberg to Osterburken , this path is looked after as the Eastern Limes Path by the Odenwald Club.
