RhB Tm 2/2
Diesel or gasoline-powered tractors ( small locomotives ) are referred to as Tm 2/2 . The axle ratio 2/2 is usually not written on the vehicle on other railways, but it is on the RhB.
Over the years, the RhB owned a total of 42 two-axle tractors with combustion engines. Six of them have a radio remote control and are therefore called Tmf 2/2. The remaining 36 vehicles are divided into 26 today orange shunting vehicles and 10 today yellow construction tractors. Until the 1980s, the tractors were red-brown or oxide red, the first tractors were green.

Tm 2/2 by Robert Aebi
No. 15 to 26 (previously 56 to 67)
Between 1957 and 1969, the company supplied Robert Aebi (Raco) the diesel-mechanical tractors Tm 2/2 64-67, then 62-63, 57-61 and finally further still number 56. The numbering was done before the existing Tm 68 and 69th The basis for these vehicles was the Tm II of the SBB . The mechanical structure was developed and built by RACO, the diesel engine was by Saurer - SLM . The power transmission from the engine to the axles was carried out by means of a chain drive, which means that these tractors are only suitable for light shunting at train stations. During a conversion in the years 1989-90, the engines from SLM were exchanged for those from Cummins , the numbers were changed to 15 to 26 and the tractors were brought into the delivery sequence. Originally painted red-brown, now orange, the vehicles are 5.06 m long and weigh 9 t. They do the shunting service at stations with small to medium volume of goods, whereby most of the 12 tractors are assigned to their respective "home station".
No. 91 and 92
In the Tm 2/2 91-92, which was also built by Raco in 1959, many components, such as the frame and driver's cab, match the station tractors (No. 56-67). The tractors were intended for mixed use in shunting and rail operations. In contrast to the stationary tractors, the power is transmitted hydraulically , with a two-speed transmission (which can only be operated when stationary) is connected upstream. The two yellow vehicles were taken over by the Furka Mountain Line Steam Railway in 2006 (91) and 2007 (92) and are mainly used there in light construction work. The extended roof protects any building materials you have carried with you from the elements.
No. 81 to 84
A lot of RhB experience flowed into the construction of the Tm 2/2 81 to 84 , again delivered by Raco in 1985 . The tractors specially designed for construction work have a spacious driver's cab, a tilting loading platform and a hydraulic crane . The yellow painted vehicles are 8.79 m long and 22 t heavy; their power is 205 kW. A hydraulic torque converter transfers the power of the Cummins diesel engine to a three-speed powershift transmission, with a top speed of 50 km / h. The eddy current brake , which was new at the time, proved its worth. After an accident, the Tm 2/2 82 was scrapped in 1997.
No. 85 to 90
The Tmf 2/2 are equipped with radio remote control.
Tm 2/2 from Schöma
No. 93
The Tm 2/2 93 manufactured by Schöma in 1971 was initially used in Austria for the construction of the Tauern tunnel , and later from 1974 onwards for the construction of the Arlberg road tunnel . After only 7 years of use it was turned off. In 1980 it was sold to the RhB. After changing the gauge from 900 mm to 1,000 mm in 1981, it was stationed in Untervaz.
No. 111 to 120
Finally, in 2002, the RhB acquired the tractors Tm 2/2 111 to 114 from Schöma. This is a replica of the Tmf 2/2 85-90 series , although the (rarely used) radio remote control was dispensed with. These tractors do the shunting service at larger stations, for example Thusis , Ilanz and Davos Platz. In 2006 another six tractors Tm 2/2 115-120 were added so that the Tmf 2/2 85-90 could be transferred to the infrastructure.
Tm 2/2 from Windhoff
No. 95 to 98
The construction tractors Tm 2/2 95 to 98 built in 1998 largely correspond to the 81-84 series, but no longer built by RACO, but built by Windhoff . Initially, it was only planned to order two pieces. Among other things, because of the accident at Tm 2/2 82, two more pieces were ordered.
