Richard Herzig

Richard Herzig (born September 8, 1851 in Schinne ; † February 25, 1934 in Hildesheim ) was a German architect and Prussian construction clerk .

Herzig worked as a secret building officer for the Prussian district government of Hildesheim and as a diocesan master builder for the diocese of Hildesheim . Herzig designed 21 of the 43 churches that were rebuilt in the Hildesheim diocese between 1885 and 1913. He preferred neo-Romanesque forms and brick as the material. Herzig published numerous articles on the art and architectural treasures of the diocese.
