In the 2002/03 season Cote was also allowed to play six times for the higher-playing St. John's Maple Leafs from the American Hockey League . With his new team he won the Calder Cup on the first attempt . Shortly after the end of the season, he was given a full-time contract with the Phantoms. After he had already participated in two training camps of the Flyers in 2005 and 2006, Cote received a two-way contract with the NHL club for the 2006/07 season .
