Rioblanco is a municipality (municipio) in the department of Tolima in Colombia . Rioblanco has a stake in the Las Hermosas and Nevado del Huila natural parks .

Rioblanco is located in the southwest of Tolima , in the province of Sur at an altitude of 900  m above sea level. NN about 156 km from Ibagué and has an average annual temperature of 24 ° C. The municipality borders on Chaparral to the north, Ataco to the east, Planadas to the south and Buga , El Cerrito , Palmira , Pradera and Florida in the Valle del Cauca department and Miranda in the Cauca department to the west .

history

The area of ​​today's municipality of Rioblanco was not developed until the end of the 19th century in search of rubber and cinchona bark. As a result, the first settlements were founded, from which today's Rioblanco emerged around 1902. Rioblanco has had the status of a municipality since 1948.
