Rita Ernst (born March 23, 1956 in Windisch AG ) is a Swiss artist .

Rita Ernst attended the Basel School of Design from 1973 to 1976 . In 1982 she resided at the Cité Internationale des arts in Paris . 1983/1984 she worked at the side of her father, the stone sculptor Othmar Ernst († 2006) in the restoration of the monastery church in Königsfelden . In 1987/1988 she stayed at the Istituto Svizzero di Roma . Since the mid-1990s she has had a second place of residence besides Zurich in Trapani on Sicily .

Rita Ernst works in the media of painting , graphics and drawing . She designs reliefs , object art , installations , conceptual art and art in architecture .

  • The writer Gerold Späth contributed a short novel to one of her books. For her part, Rita Ernst made an artistic contribution to Späth's project The handwritten books .
music
  • The composer Heinz Marti (* 1934) was inspired to write compositions of the same name for violoncello, vibraphone and percussion by Ernstsbedingungen I – IX (shown in 1996 in the Kunsthalle Winterthur ). In 2003 he created music for flute, mandolin and percussion under the title Mistura Siciliana for her picture cycle Progetto Siciliano .
