Robert Eugen Karl August Louis Albert von Doetinchem de Rande (born November 19, 1829 in Pansfelde , † May 27, 1896 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He came from a family originally resident in the city of Doetinchem in Gelderland . His father was the Rittmeister a. D. and landowner Klemens August von Doetinchem de Rande (born February 18, 1788 in Rosenthal; † April 8, 1860 in Pansfelde), co-owner of the Memlinck, Elderick and Althof estates and tenant of the Pansfelde and Molmerswende manors in the Harz Mountains, his mother Johanna Dorothea , née Lastrop (born September 29, 1790 in Braunschweig; † March 23, 1865 in Alvensleben). He was the younger brother of the Prussian district administrator Ludwig von Doetinchem de Rande (1826–1899).

Military career

After completing secondary school in Aschersleben, Doetinchem was initially a cadet in Bensberg from October 1841 and in Berlin from the end of May 1845. He was then transferred to the 31st Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army in Erfurt on April 1, 1848 . He took part in the Baden campaign with the regiment in 1849 to fight the revolutionary unrest there. In December 1849 Doetinchem was promoted to secondary lieutenant and worked as a teacher in 1851/52 at the United Divisional School of the 7th and 8th Divisions . On February 1, 1856 he was transferred to Sangerhausen in the 31st Landwehr Regiment, where he was adjutant of the III. Battalion and in the meantime was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on May 31, 1859 . Doetinchem then returned to Infantry Regiment No. 31 and was promoted to captain on February 23, 1861, when he was appointed company commander. During the German War he led his company near Münchengrätz , Preßburg and Königgrätz . Doetinchem was awarded the Order of the Crown, IV. Class with Swords, for his achievements and was recommended for preferential promotion. Promoted to major on July 20, 1870 , and appointed leader of his regiment's replacement battalion, he led it to war against France . He took part in the siege of Paris , was first leader of the fusilier battalion from October 1 to December 8, 1870 and was then appointed battalion commander. As such, he fought at Epinal and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class on February 20, 1871 .

On July 3, 1875, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and, as such, Doetinchem was initially commissioned with the command of Fusilier Regiment No. 90 and at the same time made à la suite . After becoming a colonel on June 11, 1879 , Doetinchem was finally appointed regimental commander six months later. Due to illness, he was released from this command on July 2, 1885, promoted to major general and transferred to the army officers. On July 8, 1886, Doetinchem was put up for disposal with a pension and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves .

Since 1887 he was a member of the " Society for Geography " in Berlin. At that time Doetinchem was living at Goebenstrasse 15a.

Robert von Doetinchem de Rande died of a heart attack in Berlin in 1896 at the age of 66 and was buried in the Old Twelve Apostles Cemetery in Berlin. The grave has not been preserved.

family

Doetinchem married on June 17, 1863 in Erfurt Stephanie Charlotte Dorothea Zander (born December 10, 1842 in Königsberg , † December 10, 1925 in Berlin), the daughter of the Prussian senior government councilor Aurel Zander and Marie Charlotte Canot. The couple had a total of six children:
