Rolandas Aliukonis (born May 25, 1981 ) is a Lithuanian ice hockey player who has been playing for Energija Elektrėnai since 2006 . Since 2013 he has been active with his club in the second-rate Belarusian Vysschaya League .

Career

Clubs

Rolandas Aliukonis began his career as a hockey player with the Lithuanian record champions Energija Elektrenai , for whom he made his debut in the then East European Hockey League in 1997 at the age of 16 . In the next few years he played for Energija both in the EEHL and in the top Lithuanian league. From 2003 to 2005 he took part with his team in the Latvian ice hockey league, but continued to play in the Lithuanian championship. With the exception of the years 2000 and 2002 he was Lithuanian champion with SC Energija. In 2005, Aliukonis moved to the top Latvian club HK Liepājas Metalurgs , who took part in the Belarusian ice hockey league as well as in the Latvian league. With the team from the far west of Latvia, he became Latvian runner-up. After only one year, the then 25-year-old returned to Elektrėnai . Since then he has played continuously for SC Energija , with whom he again won the Lithuanian title in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2012 and 2013. In the Latvian league it was only enough for places in midfield. Aliukonis has been playing with Energija Elektrėnai in the second-class Belarusian Wysschaja Liga since 2013 . In the 2014/15 season he also played for Poseidonas Elektrėnai in the Lithuanian league.

International

For Lithuania, Aliukonis has already participated in the junior division in world and European championships. In 1996 , 1997 and 1998 he played at the U18-C European Championships and in 1999 in the U18 World Championship of European Division I. With the Lithuanian U20 selection, he entered the C World Championships in 1999 and 2000 and after the changeover to the current division system Division II 2001 .

He made his debut in the Lithuanian men's national team at the World Cup in Division I in 2001 , but could not prevent the relegation of the Balts, who lost the game against the Netherlands , which was decisive for relegation, just 3-2. A year later , with five wins from five games and 71: 6 goals, they immediately returned to Division I. But even at the 2003 World Cup , relegation in Division I could not be achieved. Group B of Division II of the 2004 World Cup was then played in Elektrėnai at home and Aliukonis promptly not only managed to return to Division I with his team, but also the unusual number of five goals and five assists for a defender. At the 2005 World Cup , the Lithuanians were able to assert themselves for the first time in Division I with a victory over Romania and two draws against the Netherlands and neighboring Estonia , in the Aliukonis then also in 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 was on the ice. Only in 2012 was his name missing from the Lithuanian World Cup line-up.

He also took part in the qualifying tournaments for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , 2010 in Vancouver , 2014 in Sochi and 2018 in Pyeongchang . The Lithuanian team always failed in the first qualifying round. In 2017 he also played for his country in the Baltic Cup.
