Roman Iwanowytsch Salnykow ( Ukrainian Роман Іванович Сальников , Russian Роман Иванович Сальников / Roman Ivanovich Salnikov * 18th February 1976 in Kharkiv , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian hockey player , who at since 2014 HK Wytjas Kharkiv in the Ukrainian Hockey League play.

Career

Roman Salnikow, who comes from the youth division of Dinamo Kharkiv , began his career as a senior player at HK Sokil Kiev , for whom he made his debut in the East European Hockey League in 1995 . In 1997 he moved to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk in the Russian Super League for two years . After he had spent the 1999/2000 season in the Wysschaja Liga , the second highest Russian league, at HK Voronezh and Vitjas Podolsk , he was drawn to their league rivals Krylja Sowetow Moscow , with whom he rose to the Superleague in 2001. In 2003 he left the Russian capital and, after a brief stint in his native Kharkiv, joined Amur Khabarovsk , where he was also on the ice in the Russian Super League. He spent the 2004/05 season at HK Sokil Kiev in the Ukrainian ice hockey league, with which he won his first Ukrainian championship title in 2005. He then worked for the HK Keramin Minsk for three years and became the Belarusian champion with this in 2008 . He himself contributed significantly to this title win as top scorer, top scorer, best preparer and best striker in the Extraliga .

Salnykow has been playing in Ukraine since 2008. After three years with HK Sokil Kiev, with whom he was again Ukrainian champion in 2009 and 2010, he played for HK Berkut and HK Kompanjon-Naftohas , with whom he won his fourth championship title in Ukraine in 2014. When the game was resumed in February 2015 after the interruption due to the war in eastern Ukraine , he joined HK Vytjas Kharkiv from his hometown, for whom he has played in the Ukrainian league since then.

International

In the junior division Salnykow played for Ukraine at the U18-C-European Championship in 1994 and the U20-A-World Championship in 1995 and 1996 .

For the men's selection , Salnykow first took part in the 1997 C World Championship , the 1998 B World Championship and the 1999 A World Championship . After switching to the current division system, he played at the top division world championships in 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 and 2007 as well as the division I world championships in 2008 , 2009 and 2010 .

He was also in his country's squad at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and at the qualifying tournaments for the Games in Salt Lake City, Turin 2006 and Vancouver 2010 .
